The event, held at the initiative of the President of Türkiye, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country, the International Organization of Turkic Culture, the administration of the city and district of Ankara, rectors of Turkish universities, linguists and language experts, and the public of the city.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Azamkhodjayev expressed gratitude to the former mayor of Keçiören Turgut Altınok, the current mayor Mesut Özarslan and the head of the Alisher Navoi Research Center of Başkent University, Professor Abdurrahman Güzel for their contribution to the installation of the monument to the genius of poetic and philosophical thought.
It was noted that at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, large-scale work has been carried out to deeply study the rich heritage of Alisher Navoi and widely disseminate it in Uzbekistan and abroad. In 2021, the Alisher Navoi International Prize was established within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, and an international public foundation named after Alisher Navoi was created. To popularize the Uzbek language, culture and national traditions in foreign countries, it is planned to open the Alisher Navoi International Institute and its foreign branches.
It is worth noting that today, monuments to Alisher Navoi have been erected in Moscow, Dushanbe, Astana, Tokyo, Minsk, Shanghai, Seoul, and Baku.
