History of the department

 

      The branch was founded in 2008, and the “Social Humanities, Acting, and Art History” department operated until 2014. In the 2014/2015 academic year, the branch, taking into account the contingent, will be divided into two departments: “Directing and Acting” and “Social Humanities and Art History.” The Department of “Social-Humanitarian and Art Studies” primarily included specialists in “Organization and Management of Culture and Institutions” and “Technogenic Art: Film, Television, and Radio Voice Directing.”

   Since May 1, 2019, the department “Folk Creativity, Culture, and Library Activity” has been established at our branch. In 2020, the “Culture and Library-Information Activity” department was formed from this department.

   In 2020, the department “Culture and Library Activity” was formed from this department. The department had two specialties: “Organization and Management of Culture and Institutions” and “Library and Information Activity.” From October 9, 2023, it was reorganized into the Department of Cultural Activity.

Cooperation with foreign countries:

         Professor G. Saparbaeva participated in a seminar-training with Professors Sean Prime and Adrian de La Court on the development of the module “Fundamentals of Creative Entrepreneurship in the Field of Culture and Art” at Goldsmith University in London, UK, from January 4 to 11, 2020, and in the international forum “Integration of Creative Entrepreneurship Training in the Higher Education System of Uzbekistan,” held in Tashkent on February 3-4, 2020. On February 29, 2020, the State Institute of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan participated in a practical seminar on the topic “Current Issues of Teaching Creative Entrepreneurship in the Field of Culture and Art” within the framework of the international project “Creative Spark: Higher Education Program” in cooperation with representatives of the British Council of Uzbekistan and the company “Qumay Partners.”

 On February 19, 2020, Senior Lecturer A. Bekzhanova and Head of the Department of Culture and Library Activity G. Saparbaeva participated in the “Assalomu Alaykum Karakalpakstan” program on the “Karakalpakstan” TV channel with their information on the “Creative Spark” project. G.Saparbayeva participates as a member and organizer of the international project “Creative Spark: Higher Education Program,” organized by the Department of “Organization and Management of Cultural and Art Institutions” of the UzSTI in cooperation with representatives of the British Council in Uzbekistan and Humo Partners.

       In December 2021, the head of the department, G. Saparbaeva, conducted a master class on cooperation at the Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan University. In May 2022, the Head of the Department of Crafts at the Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan University, PhD Oltinoy Kodiralieva, and Senior Lecturer Gavkhar Nasanova held a master class for the department’s specialties.

From November 18 to 22, 2023, the Head of the Department, G. Saparbaeva, visited the Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan University to exchange experience in international cooperation and conducted a master class on specialized subjects.

 On April 26-30, 2025, the 5th International Forum of New Educators “Modern Education: Criticisms, Trends, and Strategies,” organized by the Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan University, was attended by the Head of the Department of Cultural Activity, Associate Professor G. Saparbaeva, Assistant Lecturer G. Abatova, 1st-year Master’s student in “Cultural Studies” B. Seydullaeva, and 2nd-year student in the specialty “Organization and Management of Culture and Art Institutions” A. Sabirbaeva.

 On May, October, and November 2025, the “Cultural Activities” department of the Nukus branch of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, conducted a seminar-training at the O. Khudayshukurov Cultural Centers No. 52 and No. 1 of the Turtkul district to enhance the professional skills of employees of cultural centers in the cities and districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

   Values such as kindness, generosity, and kindness have been glorified in our people since ancient times. In order to instill such values in the minds of our youth, professors, teachers, and students of the “Cultural Activity” department visited the Nukus “Muruvvat” women’s boarding house and performed a concert program.

On October 21-23 of this year, Sayfullo Ikramov, Head of the Department of “Culture and Art Management” at the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Art History, Associate Professor, conducted a master class on the subject “Management of the Activities of Culture and Art Institutions” for 1st-3rd-year students of the “Organization and Management of Culture and Art Institutions” specialty.

   In October 2025, the department’s assistant teachers B. Majitova and B. Seydullaeva participated in the international conference “Turkey-Uzbekistan Scientific Conference” in the city of Alanya, Turkey, with their scientific articles. He returned with good results.

– To improve specialist training, the department will open a branch of the Department of Cultural Activity at the Republican Cultural Center No. 2 in Nukus and operate under a dual education system for scientific and practical education of youth.
